Breakfast meeting a first for BID
Better communication key
Crieff Succeeds BID held its first business breakfast at Crieff Visitor Centre on Wednesday this week.
Representatives from all sectors attended for a short presentation by new BID manager Neil Combe and an informal discussion primarily on how the project’s message can be better communicated.
Crieff Succeeds BID is into the second year of its five-year business plan, which aims to promote Crieff, improve the reputation of the town as a place to visit, provide business support, save costs and provide a voice for the business community.
BID chairman Graham Donaldson told the Herald: “There was a good turnout. The business breakfast was very informative and we had great feedback.
“We were looking at how we will populate and create the new website that we hope to launch at the beginning of February.
“The other problem is communication – with levy-payers, local residents and visitors, which are all very distinct groups that we need to communicate well with.
“There are a lot of very clever people in Crieff and if we can tap into that then that is the way forward and the future of Crieff’s economy can only be improved.”
BID manager Mr Combe agreed that the meeting was encouraging and reiterated Mr Donaldson’s view that communication is key.
He said: “This is just the start of our new communications strategy and we will be exploring every form from the written word to social media.
Mr Combe believes that many people in the Strath still don’t realise what the BID is about and what its aims are.”
He added: “BID has done an awful lot already, but is guilty of not publicising this enough.”
One of the BID- backed projects is covered on page nine of today’s Herald.
