First-ever new year family party going to take place at Strathearn Artspace

- Johnathon Menzies

Strathearn Artspace will be hosting its first family Hogmanay ceilidh this year.

The family-friendly bash will take place at the creativity hub on Crieff’s Comrie Street from 7-10.30pm on December 31.

There will be live music from the Chitterybite Ceilidh Band.

Ahead of seeing in the bells, Artspace project leader David Campbell said:“We decided that it would be a god idea to put on a family ceilidh to celebrate new year as it’s always difficult for families with children to go out and celebrate.

“We’re hoping to get a lot of support for this year’s event so that we can make it into a regular event and build on it year by year.”

The early finish time will allow revellers to either make their way to James Square for the bells and continue their celebrations, or to take their little ones home to bed.

David added“This year we will have a fully licensed bar serving a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, along with pre-packaged snacks – potentially.

“We may serve hot food at future events if the local community show us that this is what they’d like.”

Continuing with the community feel, the Chitterybite Ceilidh Band is made up of local musicians with an enviable reputation for exciting and dynamic performances.

They place great importance on their caller who provides instruction for the dancers – meaning both the experienced and novice can join in the fun.

Tickets cost £12 each. A family ticket, covering two adults and two children, is priced at £30.

Additional children’s tickets, for those under 16 years, are £5.

The are available from Strathearn Artspace or Carnelian Crafts, the latter of which is also on Comrie Street.
