Balloon brings loving message to Strathearn

Resident finds note pleading for father to return home

- Iain Howie

A touching message of love sent from someone missing their dad has been found in Strathearn.

The messages, to a father “for ever in my heart” pleads for their dad to come back and help their mum be happy again, were found in Blackford.

A local resident handed in the cards to the Herald earlier this week.

They appear to have been attached to a balloon and were found caught up in a rowan tree by the Ogilvie Burn.

One says: “To dad: I really miss you, I want you back, I want to see mum happy again with you. You are the best dad in the whole wide world. I miss you so so much.”

Another bearing a name, which we have decided to not publish, states they miss their dad “more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow”.

The man who found the messages, who asked not to be identified, explained: “I saw the cards in the tree but didn’t think much of it.

“I then used some binoculars to see the cards had some writing on it so I climbed the tree to bring them down.

“It’s a shame for this person whoever it is.

“When I saw them I didn’t think much of it, but then I saw the reports of the letter that was found in Dunfermline from that child’s Christmas list, saying they were missing their dad.

“It’s very similar, as it was on a balloon and with a sad message. I hope that it works out for them.

“It was sad to find a heartfelt message like that in Blackford, and I hope that they are not connected in some way.”
