A RUNNING RESOLUTION

Strathearn Harriers club has something to offer all levels

- Lynn Duke

Those looking to trim down after the excesses of the festive season or who have made a New Year’s resolution to keep fit may want to check out local running club the Strathearn Harriers.

Runners of all ages and levels of fitness are welcome at the club’s training runs, which normally take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Whether you are local or a visitor to the area, a competitive runner or occasional jogger, Strathearn Harriers has something to offer everyone.

The club also has a lively and active Junior Harriers section, open to all between the ages of nine and 16.

Juniors meet on Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings at Taylor Park in Crieff.

Club members also take part in many running events locally and throughout the country.

It also organises three races of its own - the Strathearn Marathon in June, which is rapidly becoming a firm favourite on the Scottish marathon circuit; the scenic Crieff 10k in July and the Simon Wake Comrie Hills Relay in September.

For more information about the club, contact secretary Fiona McDonald on 01764 655654 or email the club at enquiries@ strathearnharriers.org.uk or check out the club’s website http://www.strathearnharriers.org.uk.

Meanwhile, Harriers Al Nicholl and Susan Sharp made the short trip to Methven for the first in the winter series of trail races organised by Keep It Simple Timing in the Blue Sky Events woodland and fields.

Al was 12th overall, and ninth male, finishing the 5k course in 24.04, and Susan was fourth overall, and second woman, in a time of 31.08.

See page 35 for more on the trail series.
