Crieff Hogmanay rated as best yet
Hundreds gather for the James Square bash
Crieff’s Hogmanay has been described as one of the best in years.
They were rocking around the Murray Fountain in the Strath capital as hundreds gathered in James Square to see in the New Year and enjoy entertainment from local rock band The Return, street dancer Aaron Lee and piper Calum Ferguson.
“This year’s Hogmanay party in James Square, organised by Crieff Community Council, was the best attended in a long, long time - and had the most lively crowd we’ve ever seen,” said CC chairman Craig Finlay.
“Thanks to everyone for coming out!
“Our street dance performer, 12- year- old Aaron Lee from Crieff, was excellent and certainly had many admiring female fans cheering him on.
“We wish him all the best in his competitions this year.
“Hogmanay is never the same without bagpipes, and our regular piper Calum Ferguson gets better every year.
“Rock music seems to go down very well with a Hogmanay crowd ready to dance.
“Strathearn band The Return did themselves proud with a great performance from the guys, and vocals from Jack Brock.
“The free pies were courtesy of the generosity of local butcher Gourlay’s, who also help us every year putting up the band’s marquee for the night – so a big thank you should go to them.”
Craig added: “Also, we greatly appreciate the support of Crieff’s BID for contributing money towards the event, and also to T In The Park’s Community Fund for its contribution too.
“Dunc Blair gives up his Hogmanay to keep the public toilets open, which is a great service.
“And, finally, congratulations to Christina and Rimvydas on their engagement - which was a lovely surprise for us all!”
