Nursery told to check on its staff

-

Bosses at a Crieff nursery have been told to make sure all their staff are registered with social services following an unannounced inspection.

The Care Inspectorate paid a visit to the Teddy Bear Care Nursery in Millar Street at the start of December and have just published their inspection report online.

Qualities of care and support as well as staffing at the nursery, which is registered to look after up to 48 children at a time, have been graded as “good”.

But it was also noted that the nursery did not have a system which let bosses monitor the registration of their staff with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

The Care Inspectorate has made a“requirement” that bosses now check that all their staff are registered with the SSSC within the next six weeks.

In their report the inspectors said:“Children were encouraged and nurtured by staff who knew them very well.

“Individual needs were very well met by some staff who showed particular skills in communicating with parents and professionals from other services.

“Staff had a good understanding of child development and how children use play to learn skills.

“Opportunities were available to the younger children to become independent and to explore a safe and interesting playroom.”
