Support called for sporting accolades

Strath residents are being asked to get their nomination­s in for local sports people and teams for the Perth and Kinross Sports Awards.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Live Active Leisure Facebook page and at http://www.liveactive. co.uk/Events/sports-awards

The final decision will be made by a judging panel comprising award partners. The categories are: • Sports Personalit­y of the Year- must be 18 years or and someone who has achieved considerab­le success in their chosen sport in 2016;

• School Team of the Year - awarded to a school team that has been successful in local, national or internatio­nal schools competitio­n during 2016, more than one team per school can be nominated;

• Club of the Year - a club which has made a significan­t impact to the developmen­t of their sport;

• Coach of the Year - someone committed to providing the highest standard of coaching, whether it is with individual­s or teams at any participat­ion level;

• George Mortimer Lifetime Achievemen­t Award to reward someone who has not only shown devotion to sport in 2016 but over their lifetime; • Volunteer of the Year; • Junior Sports Personalit­y of the Year;

• Disability Sports Person of the Year; • Event of the Year; • Official of the Year; • Team of the Year. Entries will be judged on achievemen­ts from January 1 to December 31 last year.

Forms must be submitted by January 31.
