New group aims to put cycling in the spotlight
A new group is being set up to support cycling for everyone in the Strathearn area.
And locals are invited to a meeting in Strathearn Community Campus tonight (Thursday) at 7.30pm to form Revolution Strathearn.
The new group’s aims are to be inclusive and break down perceived barriers to cycling; increase awareness of cycling for both cyclists and non-cyclists; create a cycle hub to provide information and expert knowledge of cycle routes and support networks in Strathearn and beyond; encourage and support individuals and groups of all ages to regularly cycle; promote Strathearn as a cycle-friendly area and apply for funding to support cycling activities.
The fledgling organisation is comprised of energetic locals who feel passionately about the pastime and want to get more people on their bikes.
Colin McPhail of Comrie Croft Bikes said: “We want to create a community bicycle action group which represents all cyclists, aspiring cyclists and yet- to-be cyclists.
“The aim is to support behaviour change towards cycling by raising awareness through events, communication and action to facilitate, encourage and support all models of cycling for everyone in the area and ultimately to work towards a healthier future for everyone.”
