Vale secure three points from exciting home clash

-

Vale of Earn .......... 4 Fair City ................ 3 left keeper Knox with no chance.

For the second goal, the conditions played their part as the ball squirmed in at the near post.

Vale had plenty of chances themselves, with Jake Webster going close on a couple of occasions.

A few tactical decisions were made during the half-time team talk and the local lads came out second half with a great fighting spirit and self belief.

The hosts reduced the deficit almost immediately with a great team goal.

Great link-up play from Webster and Macaulay saw the latter put in an excellent ball across the face of goal that was met by the on-rushing Aaron Dawson, who volleyed the ball home from close range.

The tails were up now and Vale went in search of the equaliser.

It duly came moments later when Macaulay found himself free in the box but saw his shot well-saved by the keeper.

Thankfully for the home side, the ball fell kindly to Calan Taylor who had the simple task of knocking the ball into an empty net.

Vale were well on top at this stage but were dealt a blow when midfielder Byron Klawikowski saw red after losing his cool and swearing at the referee.

Vale were still playing well with 10 men but went 3-2 down when their striker raced clear on goal and rounded keeper Knox before slotting home.

Despite this, with 15 minutes to go the Crieff side rallied and gave it their all in search of a goal.

They got their reward with a brilliant breakaway equaliser.

The ball was knocked forward to Webster who dribbled before passing
