Firm submits application for wind farm in the Ochil Hills

- Lynn Duke

Wind Prospect Developments Ltd has submitted a planning application to Clackmannanshire Council for a wind farm named Burnfoot East, on a site adjacent to the operational Burnfoot Hill Wind Farm in the Ochil Hills.

The proposal is for three wind turbines with a total installed capacity of up to 10.8 megawatts and a maximum height of 135m from ground level to blade tip when the blade is in an upright position.

The firm says the final layout is the result of a“very thorough design process following detailed environmental surveys and an extensive consultation process”.

The results of an Environmental Impact Assessment are presented in a statement which is available to view at the Clackmannanshire Council and Perth and Kinross Council offices, the Ben Cleuch Centre, Alva Community Access Point and Auchterarder Library during their normal opening hours, and the Clackmannanshire Council website.

An information event will be held on Thursday, February 16, at the Moray Institute, Blackford, between 3pm and 7pm.

Wind Prospect development manager Karen Thorburn said:“The submission of the planning application follows an eight-month period of extensive consultation with the local community about the project, which has helped to influence the design of the proposed wind farm.”

Comments on the planning application should be submitted directly to Clackmannanshire Council using the reference number 17/00026/FULL.
