Crerar and Webster on target

-

going close for the home side.

The deadlock was broken on the 25th minute when good link-up play from Ross Brock and Crerar saw the latter beat his man at the edge of the box before rifling a superb shot into the far top corner of the net.

A scrappy end to the first half saw the Vale go in with a 1-0 lead.

The Vale had the wind at their backs in the second half and were able to push that little bit further up the park.

They almost went two ahead when a speculative 30-yard Martin Cooper strike was brilliantly saved by the Craigie keeper.

It was 2-0 soon after when good wing play from Crerar saw him put a great cross into the back post.

This was met by young Jake Webster, who controlled his header into an empty net.

Vale held firm with a strong defensive performance, led by the experienced Niall Cassidy, which saw them claim another excellent three points.

Although the entire Vale side performed well, Jordan Brown was singled out for praise following an excellent showing in the midfield engine room.
