Takeover is secured for Scotland’s last Little Chef

-

Scotland’s last Little Chef has a new parent company after a massive takeover was secured.

Euro Garages confirmed on Monday that it has taken over the brand from Kout Food Group, which was involved with the Little Chef on the A9 at Balhaldie, on the PerthshireStirling border.

Kout Food Group (KFG) bought Little Chef in 2013 where within weeks the Little Chef on the northbound A9 was closed down.

In recent weeks Lancashire-based Euro Garages has been seeking to take over nearly 80 sites which include the roadside eateries which trade with brands including Burger King and Subway.

In a statement, Intervias – parentcompany of Euro Garages – said: “We’ve completed the acquisition of two companies from the Kout Food Group, that between them control 78 roadside sites. The acquisition includes usage rights to the Little Chef and related brands.

“This transaction forms part of our growth plan to acquire and develop strategically-positioned sites, allowing us to bring a portfolio of market-leading brands to consumers and communities across the UK and elsewhere in Europe. It also consolidates Euro Garages’position as the UK’s leading roadside retail operator.”

A spokesperson for Kout Food Group also released a statement:“As part of its commitment to the communities in which it operates, KFG has ensured continued employment for all its roadside employees and is confident that Euro Garages will continue to develop the strength of the people and roadside brands as well as continue to serve their roadside customers.”

The former Little Chef on the northbound A9 is due to be converted into a Subway outlet.
