Draw puts Vale on top

-

A frustrating day saw Vale of Earn net a point following a 0-0 stalemate at Ballinluig on Saturday.

It was always going to be tough to play good football on a tricky surface but the visitors’Jake Webster gave the host’s right back a torrid time, so much so the defender was subbed later in the tie.

Chances were few and far between, with a Ross Brock free-kick crashing back off the bar and a Jordan Brown volley the closest the game came to a goal in the early stages.

Vale were awarded a penalty just before half-time when Aaron Dawson was brought down in the box. Captain Ross Brock saw his penalty hit both posts before bouncing to safety.

After the break Jordan Crerar had a good half-chance which was put over the bar.

The Vale also had a Ryan Miller goal chalked off for offside.

Ballinluig had a couple of clear chances which their striker put wide.

Team: Knox, Myles, Jewell, R Brock, R Miller, Brown, Dawson, Cooper, Webster, Cramb and Crerar. Subs: Gillies, Gunn, MacPhee, Smith and G Brock.

This result saw the Vale go top of Division One, albeit their rivals have games in hand.

Next up are Auchtrarder Primrose at home in the Western District Cup on Saturday.Primrose won 7-4 at Balmoral United on Saturday last week.
