Praise for young gymnasts

-

Soroptimists International Crieff presented three hard-working Strath gymnasts with awards.

Rowan Sibbald was presented with the Norma Scott-Angel Cup and Lucy Douglas and Beth Taylor were named runners-up.

Soroptimist Heather Robertson said:“Norma Scott-Angel was a Soroptimist president some years ago and sadly died in the year of her presidency. Her interest was in osteoporosis so we started this cup to raise awareness of the disease and also to give to a young girl who is involved in a weight-bearing exercise, which is one way of preventing osteoporosis later on in life.

“This is the first time we have been involved in the gymnastics club at Strathearn Community Campus.”

Heather praised Laura Munro of Live Active Leisure, who is based at the campus.

She said:“Laura gave us three candidates to choose from under the heading of endeavour.

“She gave us some information about each and we chose a first, second and third.

“They each received a certificate, a book token and information on osteoporosis.”
