Free book swap at new library
A new little free library will be launched in the Live Active area of Strathearn Community Campus in Crieff.
The concept involves the relatively simple idea of freely exchanging books between readers.
Culture Perth and Kinross set up a Little Free Library for foreign language books at AK Bell Library in Perth to mark International Literacy Day.
Men’s Shed Perth and local artists made and decorated three little libraries for the project, which hopes to bring local communities together to share their books and create new communities of readers.
And the initiative is coming to Crieff at the end of this month.
Books in any language can be donated to the free book exchange.
The launch of the region’s third little library will take place at Live Active Strathearn on Wednesday, April 26, at 4pm.
A spokesperson said: “Since the opening of our first little library for foreign language books in September we have received donations of books in French, German, Russian, Polish, Hungarian, Italian, Chinese, Dutch, Spanish, Norwegian, Swedish, Romanian, Urdu, Arabic and Turkish.
“We are very excited about the launch of our new library in Strathearn, where we hope to see some books in English being exchanged as well.”
