-

Harriers take on the popular race.

The first Harrier home in a fine time of 40.50 was Aaron Dawson, in 29th position, taking nearly a minute off his 2016 time.

Next in, also with a big improvement over his previous time, was Nick Gough in 43.33, with Andy Gallagher following in 47.25. For the women, Cathy Tilbrook led the way in 55.11, with Fran Loots finishing in 1.00.32.

Points from this and the Norman’s Law hill race move Andy to the head of the leaderboard on 33.31 points, followed by Tony Wayte (31.17) and Ben Murphy (23.69).

Cathy Tilbrook’s fine run moves her up to third place in the women’s championship, headed by Maddy Watson (22.96 points), with Nicola Watson in second place (22.42).

The next championship events are the Loch Leven half marathon and the Kinnoull Hill race, which could see further developments in the championship race.

Other race action over the weekend saw club member racing over distances from 5k to 31 miles.

Patrick O’Kane and Ben Murphy ran in the Run and Become Self Transcendence 5k Scottish Championship race at Silverknowes in Edinburgh, with Patrick finishing in a very good 17.41 – second MV50 – with Ben finishing in 18.08.

And, on what was clearly a weekend for hard runs in the sun, Iain Thomson ran in the local and very hard Stuc a’ Chroinn race, finishing in 4:48:38.
