LYLE LOSES HIS LOCKS

As he raises cash for Little Princess Trust

- Lynn Duke

Ochtertyre man Lyle Mitchell has made the cut for charity.

Lyle had his luscious locks lopped off last week and his hair is now winging its way to the Little Princess Trust .

The 29-year-old, who works for Exel Wines in Perth, said: “It was when I was in New Zealand in 2014 that I decided to grow my hair long. I was working for a winery on a small island so it might have had something to do with the laid-back atmosphere that encouraged me to do it.”

Lyle confessed he rather liked his new look but when he found out about the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs for children suffering hair loss, he did not hesitate to help.

He added: “I did enjoy having long hair. I got many comments from people about how lucky I was to have such thick hair.

“It was about this time last year that I heard about donating hair to charity. The idea that someone who unfortunately has lost their hair through chemotherapy could have a little bit of joy from my hair made me realise it was a good thing to do. It got to be about 16 inches long by the time it was cut off.

“The reduced level of maintenance is something I am enjoying after having it cut. I no longer have to set aside time to wash and dry my hair. It is also surprisingly warm having a thick mane sitting on your neck all day, so I am a lot cooler. It’s a general feeling of liberation!

“Big thanks go to all of the generous people who donated to the Little Princess Trust via my ‘Just Giving’ page, and a special mention to Yvonne at McIntyre Hair Design in Comrie for kindly volunteering her time and expertise to plait and cut my hair.”
