Comrie get their cricketing summer started

Glenalmond College were the visitors to Laggan Park on Sunday for Comrie’s first home fixture of the season.

Glenalmond were first in to bat in the 30-over encounter. Houston and Godfery-Fossat piled on the runs until Alec Beale trapped Godfery-Fosset LBW on 11 with the score at 26.

Macdonald soon followed without posting any runs after being run out by Mark Reid.

Humphrey (19), Kingne (14), Morrison (23) and Maxwell (19) took the total up to 175 for seven.

Bowling stats: D Dowse two for 27 off three; A Dowse one for 25 off 6; Beale one for 32 off 6; Muddy one for 51 off six. Gibbons and A Dowse got a catch each. There were 28 extras.

A Dowse and Alec Beale opened for Comrie.

Beale’s wicket fell early to the bowling of Maxwell for 11.

Gibbons was in at number three.

Wallace got Dowse at 23, bowled with the total on 46.

Chris Sangster added 39, which included one six and four fours.

A miscall ended Gus Cameron’s innings early on 6 and after Gibbons (28) and D Dowse (2) were out Comrie finished with 139 for four.

Gibbons and A Dowse took a catch each.

This Sunday at 1pm Comrie are at home to Perth Doo’cot.

Comrie travelled to Duns in the Borders for a 35-over friendly against Manderson.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, with Andy Dowse and Alec Beale the openers

Beale’s wicket fell to a catch by Renwick off Farr, scoring 2.

Charles Gibbons and Dowse followed soon afterwards, both without scoring.

Chris Sangster, playing his first game of the season, came in at number four and scored two sixes and five fours, adding 41 to the total.

Mark Reid added 26 in a knock which included three fours and was also bowled by Farr.

Dougie Gourlay (24) and Arthur Perry (20), both not out, brought the innings to a close at 128 for eight.

Strout and Scott opened for the hosts. Strout fell first ball to a catch by Perry at mid on, off the bowling of Dowse.

Scott fell soon afterwards, Beale getting the first of his two wickets.

Young Stewart Welsh, coming in at number three, put the Comrie bowlers to the sword, scoring 82 not out, including one six and nine fours.

Sim added 41 not out. Manderson finished with a score of 129 for three off 20 overs.
