Thanks to all for top charity cash total
A recent coffee morning held in Auchterarder in a bid to boost the coffers of Macmillan Cancer Support netted more than £900 for the good cause.
The May 6 event at the Lang Toon’s Aytoun Hall – organised by the good cause’s local fundraising group – realised £904.70.
A spokesperson said: “Auchterarder Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Group would like to thank the community for coming out in force to attend the group’s annual coffee morning.
“Thanks to all those who provided baking and to the volunteers who assisted on the day.
“Without all the support received, the group would be unable to put on an event like this.
“The event raised a staggering £904.70 and this money will help Macmillan provide much-needed services.”
Continuing by explaining how the proceeds from the event could be used, the group representative added:“The charity needs £204 to pay for a Macmillan nurse for a day, which helps people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.
“In addition, every £100 Macmillan spends on a face-to- face benefits adviser helps people affected by cancer claim £2345 in benefits they are entitled to.
“Also, £69 could keep a typical Macmillan information and support centre stocked with all the information resources it needs to support people affected by cancer for a week. These resources would include booklets, guides, directories and leaflets.
“Meanwhile, £25 could help run a small Macmillan information and support centre for an hour.
“Thanks to all involved for helping to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.”
