Early goal caught Grove napping

-

Strathearn Grove lost 2- 0 away at Kinrossie Caledonia on Saturday.

The visitors got off to a slow start in the President’s Cup tie, conceding a goal in the opening 60 seconds.

When Grove eventually woke up and got into their stride, however, they started to play some neat passing football.

The home keeper turned in a man of the match performance, saving every effort Grove could muster in attack.

The attempts included headers from point- blank range by Mike Welsh and top scorer Kros Brown.

The Crieff men created enough chances at 1-0 down to win five games but could not chalk up the goals their play merited.

A bad day at the office was underlined when the hosts scored from the spot in the dying seconds to s eal their place in the next round.

Grove: Donald Crerar, Ross Cramb, Campbell Dewar, Connor Stewart, Calum Fraser, Lee Roberts, Dale Robson, Scott Richards, Mike Welsh, Josh Roberts and Kros Brown. Subs: Jamie McInally, John Mclean and Joe Titterington.

Auchterarder Primrose have enjoyed mixed fortunes of late, losing the Perthshire Cup final 7-0 to Letham on Thursday last week.

But they bounced back to claim a 10-3 home win over Fair City in the league on Saturday.
