CEILIDH FOR KIDS’ WEEK

Fiddles and fancy dress at fundraising night

- Lynn Duke

Organisers of Kids Week in Crieff are inviting Strath residents to get their dancing shoes on for a fundraising ceilidh.

Starting at 6pm in the Academy Hall in Strathearn Terrace on Friday next week, talented members of Blackford Fiddle Group will be reeling off the tunes for the family evening.

Tickets are £7 for adults and £4 for children, with family tickets costing £18. The latter covers two adults and two children or one adult and three children.

Take your own bottle but the ticket price includes stovies or a mild curry, which is gluten and dairy- free and suitable for vegetarians.

Tickets are expected to go on sale this Friday and can be bought at Carnelian Crafts in Crieff and from committee members Angela Baker, Hazel Bray, Kirsten Brock, Monica Thomson and Pauline Hordon.

The dress code includes kilts, tartan, sparkles, special Kids Week t-shirts, fancy dress, fairy wings, happy pants and pirate hats.

This Friday also sees the first of the fun-filled event’s community workshops for those aged 16 and upwards.

Kids Week chairperson Angela Baker said: “We are inviting those with an arty edge to help get our fairy trail village painted and make some craft for the trail we will be having in Morgan’s Wood during Kids Week.

“The design has been created by Moley Campbell and is just gorgeous. The props are being made by Perthshire Woodcrafters, who have taken on the task like ducks to water.

“Ellen Watt Design is lending a hand with various added flair.”

To join the workshops go through Facebook or call 07894264599.

Friday’s workshop is at 1.30pm at Remake on Muthill Road.

Kids Week is also appealing for acrylic paints and varnish to get its props ready for the event in July.
