DROVERS 2017 Enjoy great outdoors as part of Tryst fest

Brochures out now

- Lynn Duke

This year’s Crieff and Strathearn Drovers’ Tryst runs from October 7 -14.

Brochures are out now for the walking festival, which celebrates the life, work and play of the people who made Crieff the cattle-droving crossroads of Scotland in the 1700s.

The 2017 brochures can be found in local shops as well as Visit Scotland offices throughout Perthshire.

Eight days of walks, for all abilities and interests, are planned in the beautiful Perthshire countryside as well as a full social programme - including films, talks, and a ceilidh to complement the walks.

The festival also embraces the Hairy Coo mountain bike competition at the award-winning Comrie Croft on Sunday, October 8.

Tryst organisers have been getting a good response to their revamped website, which has information on all the events in the programme.

A spokesperson said: “The response to our new website has been overwhelmingly positive with people liking the new features, such as online maps showing where the walks start, and also the ease of booking walks.”

And the walks are not all about mountainous routes. There is something for everyone.

The spokesperson added: “A number of walks feature local experts taking you to see places and sights that you might not otherwise enjoy.

“These include the opportunity to talk with a professional photographer, getting help and advice while looking for that perfect shot. Or join a local ecologist for a walk through Glen Artney learning about the local flora and fauna. There will also be the opportunity to walk with a local beekeeper and learn about, and see, an apiary.”
