The site, between the Lang Toon and Blackford, was sold for more than £1.4m in 2015, just weeks after Ennismore’s takeover of Gleneagles

New owner GH Easterton Farm Ltd, a subsidiary of Ennismore, shares a number of executives based at Gleneagles, including managing director Bernard Murphy.

A public consultation event was held on March 22 to receive initial feedback and the proposals were considered at Perth and Kinross Council’s development management committee meeting in the same week.

At the time a Gleneagles spokesperson said: “Our professional teams will be able to go away from the consultation with the views of those in attendance, adding them to our considerations for the optimal development of the site.”

The plans reveal an intention to demolish the existing farm buildings and create a “leisure- led mixed use development including holiday accommodation of lodges and tepees”.

The 105 hectare site would see agricultural land give way to a spa, restaurants, retail, public house, events spaces, residential plots, reception building and parking.

A falconry centre belonging to the hotel is in the process of being moved.

Bernard Murphy previously said: “The planned transformation of the site, which represents significant investment by our owner Ennismore, to enhance the guest experience and make the most of the stunning natural assets of the Gleneagles estate will attract guests from the rest of the UK and further afield.”

He also hinted that building the new Glenagles asset would offer a chance for “many” local jobs to be created.
