Taking the plunge for Over the Wall
The local community has been taking the plunge to help with Cara Tavendale’s 10 for 10 Challenge to raise funds for Over The Wall.
Crieff’s Cara is marking the 10th anniversary of a health condition, that left her with multiple side-effects, with a series of fundraising events in aid of the charity that helped her through her lifechanging illness.
And locals have been getting on board with the fundraising for OTW, which provides therapeutic recreation camps for seriously ill children.
Sharlene Chater took on a ten kilometre swim recently - 500 lengths of the Crieff pool - to help raise awareness and funds for the charity.
She completed the swim over a week with the support of friend, Melvyn Turnbull, and Cara, who is a leisure assistant at Strathearn Community Campus.
Sharlene told the Herald: “I met Cara after a regular swimming session and we decided on my challenge.
“I have loved every minute of it, pushing myself and raising funds for such a wonderful, young woman.
“Her determination is admirable.“
Cara has already raised more than £4000 of her £5000 target.

Cara said: ” This year it will be ten years since I first got ill so I have decided to do something, to give back to this amazing charity.
“The camps are entirely funded by donations so I hope to raise as much money as I can so I can help other people in similar situations to myself.”
