No July meeting - but we’re still here for you
Two-month gap
Crieff Community Council will not meet for two months.
Due to office- bearers having other commitments, there will be no meeting in July.
The announcement, which was made last Thursday, has caused some concern amongst local residents.
Ho w e v e r, u n d e r the constitution, community councils are only required to hold four meetings a year, with dates and times of meetings set at the annual general meeting.
Crieff CC, which is run by volunteers, has traditionally held 10 meetings a year, taking a month off in August and January.
Secretary Christine Steinka told the Herald: “Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances and other commitments ,we are unable to hold our July meeting.
“We are still working on CCC issues and are, of course, available to all members of the community should they need us.”
Community council’s are required to convene an AGM every May for the purpose of receiving and considering the chairperson’s annual report, the submission and approval of the independently examined annual statement of accounts and the appointment of office-bearers.
There was no chairman’s report at this year’s AGM, the previous incumbent having resigned prior to the meeting.
Susanna Murdoch stepped up to the role.
Crieff can have up to 13 community councillors but numbers were low under the last administration and, with only four other members, the new group has been finding its feet.
At this month’s meeting, three new members were co- opted - David McNaughton, Harry Thomason and Alastair McEwan.
The next meeting will be on September 4, at 7.30pm in Strathearn Community Campus.
