Calder’s charges take the spoils
Saturday saw the annual captain vs vice-captain’s day take place at St Fillans Golf Club.
Captain Ronnie Shaw’s carefully selected team – which included five people who had previously filled the role – had the task of bucking the trend of repeated losses over the years.
In sunny weather, vice-captain Mike Calder confidently addressed his players before a match which commenced using a shotgun start off tees around the course.
The anticipated upset was never on the cards as, of the eight matches played, seven were won by the vice-captain’s team, with one match being halved.
The day was brought to a close with an enjoyable barbecue lunch.
