SHOOTING FOR GLORY
Auchterarder teen makes impact on clay pigeon scene
Young Auchterarder teenager Marcus Nicol continues to make his mark on the Clay Pigeon shooting scene in Scotland.
Marcus has had another great season with a few more titles tucked under his belt.
He has changed disciplines and is now shooting F.I.T.A.S.C and Sporting.
All this coupled with a change of gun to a Caesar Guerini has secured him a place leading the Scotland Junior Team alongside new caps, Cayleigh Will (Aberdeen) and Lewis Turnbull (Strathallan School), for the ICTSF World Sporting Championships to be held at Kelmarsh Hall Estate in July.
The teams selected consist of three veterans, five seniors, a ladies team of three shooters, and the Junior Team of three. Selection was made from five 100 sporting bird days from March to May. Marcus will shoot 100 birds each day over three days in the competition - an experience he relishes.
Marcus, a pupil at the Community School of Auchterarder, said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been selected as part of the Scotland Sporting Team, particularly as I really enjoy this discipline.
“This will differ from the Home International in that I will be shooting alongside competitors from all over the world.
“I love the sport but to keep up this standard of shooting proves very expensive and I am continually looking for sponsors to help me continue to achieve my goals”.
Marcus added: “I would like to personally acknowledge the continued support I get from Alan Harris of Alpa Joiners, Denny, and Gillian Matthews of Labels for Less, Auchterarder.”
