COMRIE FESTIVAL IS A REAL SUCCESS
Organisers get set for float parade finale
Comrie Fortnight continued apace this week with all generations getting together to enjoy the wide variety of events.
It was eyes down last Wednesday evening for the bingo tea, which saw the White Church packed full of players. Earlier in the evening the CoCo Bus was on hand to ferry folk back and forth from the Auchingarrich Wildlife Park open evening. And trips to Cairnie Farm, Xtreme Carting, Ryze and the Maid of the Forth River Cruise were also highlights.
On Sunday, children took part in the fancy dress bike competition and paraded their pooches and other animals in the Pet Show, with a water slide in Laggan Park proving the main attraction of the day. Evening entertainment has included a DJ night, barn dance and fiddlers’ rally.
On Thursday this week from 6.30pm, there is a Children’s Disco and Fun Night with Remake in the marquee, and there will also be a drama performance in the White Church.
The village is now looking forward to welcoming visitors for the finale on Saturday, which will see the Decorated Float Parade make its way through the village at 1pm on its way to the Fun Afternoon and Party in Laggan Park.
Comrie Fortnight chairman Ewen Stewart told the Herald: “We have had a great programme of activities so far which everyone seems to have enjoyed. Hopefully we have managed to entertain as many people as possible with our various events.
“Saturday is the big one and we look forward to seeing visitors come and join us for the Float Parade.
“Also in the park on Saturday afternoon, we are delighted to welcome Riders of the Storm, a unique and exciting equestrian stunt team, who will be giving us two spectacular performances – something not to be missed.
“We look forward to seeing everyone there.”
