Highland District wades in over pool
After Crieff Town Council made a firm proposal to the County Council requesting the provision of a swimming pool in Crieff under the provisions of a recent Government circular, two small Burghs in the Highland District of Perthshire have now stuck their proverbial oars in and delayed consideration of Crieff’s claim.
The County Education Committee, who were asked to sanction the provision of a swimming pool at the new secondary school being built at Crieff postponed making a decision on the matter.
They decided “in fairness to Aberfeldy and Pitlochry Town Councils” to give these bodies time to submit specific proposals for the provision of a pool in their area and agreed that any such proposals should be examined at the September meeting along with the proposals already submitted by Crieff Town Council.
Anyone interested in the constitution of marriage is invited to contact the committee of marriage in Scotland, who, under the chairmanship of Lord Kilbrandon are now prepared to receive suggestions for the amendment and improvement of the law of marriage.
The committee are not considering such questions as divorce, property rights or family law. They are confining their enquiries to the preliminaries to marriage, including the age at which marriage may be contracted, and whether parental consent should be required; and also to marriage procedure, both civil and ecclesiastical.
