Something needs to be done to improve Crieff’s image throughout the year

-

Dear Editor, Well now that the Games are over, the nights draw in and the autumn season approaches fast, the next event could be Guy Fawkes’ night.

However, before that the shops, both near and far, will be reminding us that Christmas is not really that far away!

We will be going up to the attic to get the decorations down and see what needs replaced.

Also get the Christmas card list updated and, let’s face it, unfortunately, some names will have to be removed!

The tree and lights will need to be checked as well – what could be nicer than the Christmas trees all lit up in the windows and cards on the mantelpiece, wishing us happy and holy Christmas.

I do hope you all get a few cards, what could be worse than getting Christmas and New Year greetings from a notice in your daily newspaper!

Then the New Year – out come the promises and resolutions, all made in good faith and just as easy forgotten!

But let’s hope that our council fathers, here and further afield, do not forget all the promises made to us in good faith?

Is it not time something was done about the George, the Star and the Drummond Arms hotels?

This is not fair the way these properties are blatantly forgotten about. Yes and perhaps, too, the new supermarket!

Come on folks is it not time something obvious was done for Crieff?

Something that might improve our summer season and our image?

I did hear of one Games visitor who could only get B&B for £150 per night in a well-known residence in Crieff!

All other residences were full or closed down.

Do we really need this – I think not.
