Gleneagles’ nod to 1920s

- Rachel Clark

Gleneagles Hotel has officially opened a brand new “beauty destination” in the grounds of their estate.

The five-star hotel has added ‘ Bob and Cloche’ just a stone’s throw from the main hotel itself in the estate’s former gate lodge, in an art deco design to celebrate Gleneagles’ rich 1920s heritage.

The brand new beauty rooms are named after the popular ‘ bob’ haircut and the ‘cloche’ hat worn by 1920s French milliner Caroline Riboux, two iconic styles from the jazz age.

Bob and Cloche at Gleneagles includes a nail bar, pedicure room, hairstyling room and a variety of treatment rooms, with contemporary ivory leather chairs, opulent furnishings and a striking colour palette of dusty pink, pale green and black.

A spokesperson for the new Bob and Cloche at Gleneagles said: “The effect is an effortlessly elegant ambience, which pays homage to an era when dressing up for dinner and dancing the night away at Gleneagles was reserved for society’s brightest young things.

“A stylish relaxation area, with its roaring fire and deep velvet sofas, is reminiscent of a cosy drawing room and is the perfect place for friends to unwind and chat between treatments, while the luxurious dressing room, with its velvet chaise lounges and vintage drinks trolleys, adds glamour and fun to the ritual of trying on outfits and perfecting a look before dinner.”

Bob and Cloche at Gleneagles can now be used by both hotel guests and local residents, and can be hired out for groups of friends.
