Members met in Crieff Hydro Hotel’s Drummond Suite on November 21. Moyra Turnbull welcomed members and guests to the final meeting before Christmas. She introduced demonstrator Karine Murray, from Calderwood, East Kilbride. The theme for her demonstration was ‘Christmas Joys’. For the first arrangement she chose a tall log in an upward stance with a roughened surface sprinkled with artificial snow like a Yule log. The oasis placement was dressed with foliage – phormium, bergenia, rubus, and senechio before inserting two hippeastrum, dried coppered aspidistra leaves, red roses and pine cones. Her second container was a small tray into which she placed gold/glittered twigs, palm stems and platted palm, fatsia and hedera. The arrangement was completed with the addition of red roses, gerbera and carnations. The third arrangement was in a tray with oasis. The foliage used for this was stapled phormium, berried holly, ivy and euonymus. To this base she added yellow lilies, yellow roses and freesia. To complete, red bobbles on sticks and artificial candles in holders were added. The fourth presentation was an oasis ring set in a red plate dressed with pieris, spruce and choisy prior to adding green Anastasia chrysanthemums and green button chrysanthemums. Finally, coloured red bobbles on sticks were added. The fifth arrangement was in circular metal rings with inner green metal wire supporting the dish with oasis, griselinia, eucalyptus, hebe and choisya, white delphiniums, Anastasia chrysanthemums, calla lillies, avalanches roses and orchids. She added snow cones on sticks and a Christmas star. Karine had made up smaller twin arrangements for each presentation and added colourful Christmas boxes, artificial flame candles to complete a colourful display. Moyra gave the vote of thanks prior to the raffle being drawn. Tea and chat followed. The next meeting is February 20 in Crieff Hydro.
