Nae Sair Heeds for trials at Lochlane
Bike event blows away the cobwebs for participants
Conditions were miserable for spectators at the Sair Heed motorcycle trials held at Lochlane on January 2.
But riders relished the challenging conditions.
Around 80 intrepid competitors took part despite the relentless heavy sleet and snow, which made for very muddy conditions.
The annual event to “blow away the cobwebs” for the new year ahead is organised by Crieff ’s Jean and Rab Paterson of Perth and District Motor Club and attracts riders from all over Scotland.
Three laps of trials on the banks of the Earn are undertaken with plenty of boulders and burns to be negotiated with riders rewarded with Jean’s homemade soup and coffee from the Bonnie Mountain Land Rover.
Rab told the Herald: “We had 82 taking part. It was a bit wet and slippy and guttery but they still go out.
“The first two sections were in a continuous burn; then we had rockery and two sections along the river.
“The wet, mud and snow made for quite challenging conditions but it’s all good.
“Many thanks to the Halleys at Lochlane Farm for providing the venue and the use of the shed for shelter, Steve Timoney of Lochlane House, James of Bonnie Mountain Coffee and all the helpers.” Results: Adult A - 1 Duncan Mcoll (2); 2 Andy Anderson (5); 3 Jamie Reid (6).
