Top effort as awards pile up for hotel
Resort wins host of titles
A top Strathearn hotel, spa and resort has been reflecting on a bumper year after winning a host of prestigious awards.
The Gleneagles Hotel near Auchterarder has won a host of travel awards over the course of 2017, in a range of categories including golf and spa destinations.
Most recently, the luxury five-star resort won the 2017 National Geographic Traveller Reader’s Award for Domestic Bliss UK Hotel, for the hotel which sat apart from the rest for British service, design and spirit.
The Strath resort saw off stiff competition from Chewton Glen in Hampshire and The Pig on the Beach in Dorset to claim the accolade.
National Geographic T r av e l l e r p r a i s e d Gleneagles Hotel for providing “standalone comfort and class” and for being “an exemplary country house hotel that delivers “old fashioned elegance, as well as impeccable service, quality food and excellent facilities”.

On top of the latest award, Gleneagles is also celebrating a number of golfing accolades for its world-class golf courses.
The hotel was crowned the number one golf resort in Britain and Ireland by Golf World Magazine, and the best golf resort in the world for the sixth consecutive year at the Ultratravel awards in 2017.
Today’s Golfer Magazine awarded the Strathearn institution the best hotel/ resort in Scotland prize for the fourth year in a row.
The hotel then scored a hat-trick of gongs at the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards, coming away with the best golf experience, best pro shop and best large hotel titles.
Aside from the golf awards, the hotel’s spa saw Gleneagles winning best UK spa at the 2017 Good Spa Guide Awards.
The hotel was also named in the top 20 hotels in the UK at the Conde Nast Traveller 2017 Readers’ Travel Awards.
And the food on offer at the Auchterarder hotel did not go unnoticed, with Andrew Fairlie successfully retaining Scotland’s only two Michelin star restaurant inside the hotel.
