-

Tayside Orienteers is running sessions to light up the increasingly dark evenings.

The first takes place on Thursday this week, with the second – billed as a special Hallowe’en event – on October 31, and the final one on Thursday the following week.

The sessions are to help improve orienteering skills and are suitable for beginners and improvers.

Starting at 6.30pm, participants should meet in the cafe area at Strathearn

Community Campus.

The Hallowe’en event takes place at Crieff’s MacRosty Park – and will include some spooky fun, with soup and hot drinks at the pavilion.

An adult must accompany all young people of primary school age, with a maximum of four youngsters to one adult.

Cost for the three sessions for juniors is £6, including membership for 2020 for Tayside Orienteers.

For those wishing to only take part in the Hallowe’en run, it’s £4.

For adults, it’s £10 for the three sessions – including membership of Tayside Orienteers – and £6 for just the Hallowe’en event

Fran Loots of Tayside Orienteers said: “Membership of Tayside Orienteers includes signing up to Scottish Orienteering.

“Once you are a member you can join in the regular coaching and training sessions, and get reduced rates at club events. For juniors - once they are confident doing the basics, we have recently set up a training squad with other clubs in the west of Scotland which is a great way to improve skills and meet other young people. This is mainly for those of secondary age.”
