Night to remember

-

Dear Editor Comrie celebrated the season with a glorious bang on Saturday, November 2, as our fabulous annual fireworks display lit up the night sky.

Blast Designs, in partnership with Comrie Primary School Parent and Friends Association (PFA), organised the event, which brought the whole community together for family fun in Laggan Park.

The event is the biggest fundraiser in the school year, the proceeds of which go towards supporting a multitude of school and community resources, from school trips to online reading support programmes.

This annual event wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of a huge number of individuals and groups, who give their time and money to make it such a success.

The PFA would like to say a huge thank you to all the helping hands who made the evening so spectacular – all the volunteers who helped set up, take down, collected donations, fed and watered people, baked, painted faces, toasted marshmallows and cleared up.

Special thanks to Blast Design for their breathtaking display, organisation and incredibly generous donation; to our amazing sponsors Ardvorlich Estates, Comrie Croft, Drumchork Holiday Cottages and Denholm Partnership Architects.

Thanks also to Comrie Pipe Band who led the children from Comrie and Killin Primary Schools through the village in a wonderful lantern procession and to Allan Stewart who escorted them safely to the park.

A multitude of community organisations and businesses also support the event and the PFA would also like to express its immense gratitude to Comrie Men’s Shed, who along with co-ordinating the brilliant donations of wood, helped marshall and organise the car parking on the night.

Comrie Cubs and Beavers and Comrie Brownies were amazing and helped collect and deliver the wood for our flaming centrepiece.

Massive thanks go to AB Gairns for their support with the collection and building of the bonfire along with the excellent co-ordination skills of Jeremy Spurway.

Comrie Community Orchard donated the wonderful apples that were sugar-coated to perfection by Barbara Murray.

Thanks to our flamboyant Guy Fawkes, John Hardman Moore, who was a huge hit with the children and brought some additional drama to the evening.

Thanks also to Hansen’s Kitchen for the winter warmers; to Kenny Howat on the PA and lighting support; to the White Church for lending tables; to Jimmy McRae for lending his trailer, Comrie Cricket Club and Laggan Park Committee for their support to hold the event in the park.

And finally, the PFA would like to thank our police and fire dervice for keeping everyone safe and sound.

This year’s event also tried to minimise our environmental impact as we sought to reduce waste and plastic.

We will continue to strive for

this at all future PFA activities.

We just want to end by saying thanks to you all for coming and supporting our Blast in the Park - you made it a night to remember. Comrie Primary School PFA
