Community group to share vision at December meeting

- LYNN DUKE

A new community start-up in Auchterarder has been invited to put forward its vision at the next meeting of the Strathearn and Strathallan Action Partnership.

Representatives of the Parents Supporting Parents initiative, which is typical of the type of organisation the action partnership supports, will speak about its aims at the meeting.

It takes place from 6pm in Auchterarder Parish Church Hall on Thursday, December 19.

A partnership spokesperson said:“The Local Action Partnership has become aware of a community start-up in Auchterarder to fill a void that exists in service support to children, parents and families in the mental health sphere.

“Emotional health and wellbeing of children is so important in this day and age.

“The Parents Supporting Parents initiative is being piloted by parents with local money from the Auchterarder and District Community Trust.

“Those driving the project have been invited to speak at the next Strathearn and Strathallan Action Partnership meeting on December 19.

“The meeting is open to the public, as are all meetings of the partnership.”

The second round of action partnership funding is now open, with a maximum of £18,738 available for suitable projects in Strathearn and £20,565 in Strathallan, subject to committee approval.

Applications from organisations are invited by January 15, 2020 - an extension to the original December 12 deadline.

Application forms and guidance notes are available on the Perth and Kinross Council website.

See www.pkc.gov.uk for more information.

In addition to the council’s community investment fund, community councils are also being offered money for projects they may wish to administer or support.

Each of the nine community councils in the south Perthshire locality has been offered £1000.
