NO CLOSURE FOR HOSPITAL

Rumours dispelled by health manager’s update

A healthcare officer has said a there are no plans to cl close Crieff Community H Hospital.

The reassuranc­e was given at the latest meeting of Crieff Community Council by Lindsey Bailie, South Perthshire and Kinross locality manager for the Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnershi­p.

Ms Bailie addressed those present at the meeting at Strathearn Community Campus on December 9.

Afterwards, she told the Herald: “I would like to thank Crieff Community Council for inviting me to their meeting.

“It was lovely to see so many local people come along to hear about the developmen­ts afoot in Crieff Community Hospital.

“I would like to reassure you

that we continue to explore and support the use of the spaces in Crieff Community Hospital and our health facilities as much as we can, and welcome working in partnershi­p with the local community to enhance the health and wellbeing needs of residents of Crieff and the surroundin­g area.

“It is very important for the people of Crieff, the staff and the patients who use Crieff Community Hospital [that they] are reassured that there are no plans to close the community hospital.”

Locals present at the meeting praised staff and services at the King Street medical facility.

Ms Bailie added: “It was lovely to hear the community expressing their satisfacti­on with the current services we offer and for the lovely feedback about our hard-working staff both within our GP ward, our Minor Injury service and the staff who provide the support for the patient care delivery in the community hospital. It is recognitio­n of the work that they do to support local people.”

Ms Bailie also went on to discuss how the empty spaces in ward one are now being utilised.

Crieff Community Council chairman Harry Thomason welcomed the update. He said: “Lindsey spoke for about an hour. People were pleased to hear what she was saying about the community hospital.

“She reassured us that it wasn’t closing. There have been a lot of rumours about that going around for a while.

“It’s not respite care – it is a hospital where patients go to get better.

“The community council and everyone else who came along to the meeting were very pleased that Lindsey came along.”
