Registration details for pupils
Parents of children who are starting primary school next year can now register them with the council.
Perth and Kinross Council has opened enrolment for children who will turn five before the end of February, 2021.
A spokesperson for the council said: “If your child will be five before the last day of February, 2021, then it will soon be time to enrol them for school.
“If your child will be five on or before that date, you should register your child to start school during the January registration week, which in 2020 will be week commencing January 13, 2020.
“The following school session begins on Wednesday, August 19, 2020.
“If your child is five between August 19, 2020, and February 28, 2021, they are eligible to start school in August, 2020, and you should register your child for primary school during the January, 2020, registration week.
“However, nearer to the start of the school year you may wish to delay your child’s entry to school if you think that they are not ready to begin school.”
Parents need to register their child at their catchment school with their child’s birth certificate, current council tax notice and a recent utility bill.
They can also contact their catchment school directly to discuss enrolment further and arrange a visit.
Those enrolling at a denominational school should take their child’s baptismal certificate – if they have one – with them when registering for school.
Parents who want to send their children to a different school other than their local catchment school can put in a placing request by Sunday, March 15, 2020, and should not register their child at their local catchment school.
And those who want their children to attend a Gaelic class, which teaches lessons in both Gaelic and English, can speak to the head teachers at either Goodlyburn Primary School in Perth or Breadalbane Academy in Aberfeldy.
Registration forms can be downloaded from the council’s website, www.pkc.gov.uk
