Chance to see behind Drummond Arms doors
Behind-the-scenes opportunity
Plans are in place for a special exhibition designed to give curious Crieff residents a behind- thescenes look at the former Drummond Arms Hotel.
Those behind local groups Crieff Community Trust (CCT) and the Drummond Arms
Regeneration Limited (DARL) are putting together a series of images designed to reveal the current state of the James Square site.
DARL took ownership of the iconic former hotel last year and is spearheading its development.
Appraisal work is currently being carried out to determine the future potential of the town centre eyesore while it is being made safe thanks to a £600,000 grant allocated by Perth and Kinross Council through the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Fund.
For safety reasons as a result of the ongoing work, the exhibition will take place downstairs in Crieff ’s Old Town Hall for two weeks from March 21.
Alongside the current Drummond images, there will be a collection of photos from the hotel when it was in operation, as well as space for the public to record their memories of the iconic Strath capital building.
Arleen Sinclair is a development officer for the Drummond regeneration project.
She said: “We would like to offer the opportunity for people to see what a poor condition the building has been left in, as well as celebrate the events which helped make the Drummond such an important building for the people who visited it.”
Anyone wishing to share their memories of the Drummond is welcome to get in touch with exhibition organisers.
Email Arleen via drummonarmsregeneration@ gmail.com or drop any pictures in to the Can Do Crieff premises in Lodge Street.
The exhibition will run from Saturday, February 21, until Friday, April 3, from 10am until 5pm each day except Sundays.
Organisers have said the deadline for any submissions is March 8.
