Turn back time with top pop favourites at Rewind

- RACHEL AMERY

A stellar line-up has been announced for this year’s Rewind Festival on the outskirts of Perth.

Rewind returns to Scone Palace from Friday, July 17 until Sunday, July 19, and some of the biggest names of 80s music will be taking to the stage.

The festival celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2020, and will see Jimmy Somerville’s Big Band-Tastic Boogie, a show especially created for Rewind, headlining the Saturday night, and Wet Wet Wet headlining on the Sunday.

Also on the bill are Billy Ocean, Bananarama, Trevor Horn Band, Nick Heyward, Roland Gift of Fine Young Cannibals, Hue and Cry, Grandmaster Flash, The Christians, Pete Wylie - The Mighty Wah! and John Parr.

The festival will be opened by a unique show celebrating 50 years since the formation of Queen.

Queen Symphonic will feature a full symphony orchestra, a rock band and four soloists from the musical ‘We Will Rock You’, who will perform some of the band’s greatest hits.

Completing the anniversary line- up will be the Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, Heather Small, Shalamar featuring Howard Hewett, Jeffrey Daniel and Carolyn Griffey, Limahl, From The Jam, The Blow Monkeys, Altered Images, T’Pau and Owen Paul.

And new for this year will be Club Tropicana, an 80s club in a massive big top featuring a host of star DJs.

There will also be the Electro Picture Lounge for revellers to chill out and watch classic 80s videos, documentaries and film footage.

A brand new street food area with a range of culinary treats freshly cooked will also be at the festival.

And back by popular demand will be the inflatable church and the silent disco.

Once again party-goers at Rewind in Scone are being encouraged to don neon colours and fancy dress.

Rounding up the weekend extravaganza will be camping and glamping options alongside themed bars, fancy dress, a funfair, a kids zone and fireworks.

Tickets for Rewind went on sale at 10am on Thursday, January 30, and can be bought online via the festival’s official website at www.rewindfestival.com
