Public step up and get their community council back
Muthill and Tullibardine Community Council is to come out of abeyance thanks to conscientious members of the community stepping up to fill enough seats to make it viable.
Despite an extension to the deadline, MTCC was the only group in the Strath not to reform following last year’s community council elections in November due to there not being enough names in the hat to at least form a quorum.
But now Sandy Black, Stephen Coulter, Donald Hood and David Woods have come forward to represent the Muthill sub-area, and Steven Gow and Thomas Mills will represent Tullibardine.
Former Muthill and Tullibardine Community Council secretary Mairi Macdonald is delighted that the community council has been re-established.
She said: “It means both communities have a stronger line of communication with PKC.
“It also means the community council can resume projects such as getting a defibrillator into the phone box in Muthill and the sale of the old Recreation Club, or Small Hall as it is known.”
Donald Hood, who has represented his community for over 18 years said: “It’s great we have more people on board. It’s important to have a community council and I am looking forward to getting back to business.”
The new members of MTCC will be formally declared as having been elected from March 12.
Perth and Kinross Councillor Tom Gray has called an EGM for Wednesday, March 18 at 7.30pm where the new committee will be established and office bearers selected. All are welcome to attend.
