New box offices for Crieff Drama tickets

-

New ‘box office ’locations will make it easier to get your hands on tickets for Crieff Drama Group’s popular productions.

Strathearn Arts in Comrie Street – which is open Monday to Friday, from 10am to 2pm – is the outlet for Crieff, while Hansen’s Kitchen will have tickets on sale in Comrie.

They can also still be ordered for collection by calling 01764 656375.

The next offering from the group will be the spring show, Ronald Harwood’s Quartet.

The group’s Gordon Campbell said: “In case there should be any doubt, the piece is definitely not a musical!

“Certainly it’s about music, specifically about people who once made music in the realm of professional opera.

“Three of the four characters in this sublime comedy are Reggie, Wilf and Cissy, all world famous opera stars in their day – now residents in a retirement home – and none too eager to take retirement seriously.

“Their fervent wish is to sing for one last time the Quartet from Verdi’s Rigoletto, the opera which made their names on the world stage.

“However, making up the four is to be the obstinate diva Jean. Her views on the vocal reunion are harsh.”

Helen Day, who chairs Crieff Drama Group, added: “If you’ve seen the Quartet feature film, you’ll discover that the stage play has a slightly different take on the story.

“We have the same four quirky characters of course, but we learn so much more about them and their colourful lives and relationships.

“The diffident Reggie, the ribald Wilf, the scatty Cissy and the overbearing Jean – each has a past to reveal, always funny yet sometimes poignant.

“Revisiting the robust humour of 1999, the year of its stage debut, this is a really engaging piece.”

The production of Quartet runs from April 16-18 in Academy Hall.

Doors and the wine bar are open from 7pm, with curtain-up at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8.
