Community council postponed

-

Crieff Community Council meetings have been postponed until further notice as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Monthly gatherings are held at Strathearn Community Campus, which was among a whole host of buildings closed to the public as a precaution earlier this week.

In a statement, the community council said: “Following the Prime Minister ’ s announcement to minimise social contact. Perth and Council’s (PKC) advice to community councils is that scheduled meetings should be postponed until the official government advice on social contact changes.

“Therefore, Crieff Community Council have postponed our scheduled public meetings for the foreseeable future.

“You can correspond with Crieff Community Council via email to crieffcc@gmail.com.”

At PKC level, the local authority took the decision to call off group and committee meetings as part of an ongoing review late on Tuesday afternoon.

We d n e s d a y ’ s scheduled environment and infrastructure committee and lifelong learning committee meetings were among the first affected.

Council offices and community campuses were also closed to the public.

A PKC spokesperson said: “We are continuing to follow all official advice.

“At present, that means that schools are still open while people with symptoms are asked to stay at home.

“We are currently asking all staff to postpone or cancel non-essential meetings, activities and events planned from today [Tuesday] for the foreseeable future.

“This includes political group meetings, council and committee meetings – political group leaders have agreed to take essential strategic decisions virtually where possible.

“This will be kept under review.”
