Poo plan for energy

-

could send the waste to but discovered that there is no facility in the whole of Scotland to turn dog waste in to renewable energy.

“There is a definite need for this kind of service in Scotland and I would love to be at the forefront of that – it could be truly revolutionary.

“People not picking up after their pets or disposing of it properly is a perennial problem and we believe we have the perfect solution to that which also addresses environmental issues at the same time.”

Lucy, who has also been working with community- based enterprise support organisation GrowBiz on her plans, got in touch with Brian when she heard about his K9 Lantern.

She explained: “Brian was so fed up of seeing dog mess on every street he decided to do something about it.

“His K9 Lantern is in production and he is on a mission to get them in parks and rural areas of not just the UK, but countries across the world.

“Since installing one in his front garden two years ago, which is accessible to the public, his close neighbourhood - which was once littered with dog mess - is now completely clear of the stuff.

“It has been a huge success and is now in great demand in other villages, and we want a community in Perthshire to be the first in Scotland and be a leading light in the fight against dog mess.”

A poll, which opened this week, can be found on Facebook by searching for The Dog Poo Fairy – Lamp Post Pilot Group.

It features 13 communities across Perth and Kinross where the lamppost could be placed.

Voting closes on March 31.
