Businesses get advice to recover after lockdown

-

The Strath capital’s business support organisation has issued advice to owners to keep staff and customers safe as lockdown is eased.

David McCann is the manager of Crieff Succeeds, which recently sent out a guide to help the town’s recovery in the wake of the pandemic.

He said:“Covid-19 has affected all our lives and the lockdown has had a devastating effect on many businesses.

“However, as we slowly move towards a partial and, hoped for, full resumption of business we hope that this guide can partially help businesses as we move into the recovery and rebuilding phases of this crisis.

“We are of course aware that different businesses have different challenges, different sectors will take different actions and we cannot cover every eventuality or event.

“However we hope to provide enough information to support and assist as many businesses as we can.”

Those signed-up to the Crieff Succeeds emailing service have received a checklist of things to do along with links to further support.

The first point is for businesses to check on the Scottish Government website whether they are legally allowed to open.

A risk assessment and social distancing review should then be carried out to enable an action plan.

Access points for staff, customers, and providers should be identified and controlled, considering one-way systems if possible, and health and safety policies should be displayed in both staff and customer areas.

David advises working with Perth and Kinross Council, managing agencies and landlords to manage potential issues with queuing or access.

There is also advice on providing hand sanitising areas, applying social distancing measures and protection measures for employees and staff members living with vulnerable people.

David added: “Communication is key for a smooth transition from resilience to recovery and rebuilding and to keep employees, customers and the supply chain up to date with new policies and practices. This will help to provide reassurance, meet expectations, minimise anxiety and make a simple transition

“A tree with strong roots smiles in a storm. Crieff’s roots are its community, its businesses, and its people. Through any storm we walk together.

“And as the skies clear once more our town will flourish and prosper for it holds true forever that Crieff Succeeds together.”
