PUPILS LIFT PRIZES

Achievements recognised

- LYNN DUKE

There were more than a few tears in the eyes of parents as they watched Comrie Primary’s Class of 2020 leave school for the last time.

The P7 pupils returned to school for a special playground ceremony on Wednesday last week, which saw them given a good send-off.

Leaving certificates and goodie bags were presented before a parade around the concourse.

Teachers formed a guard of honour and the youngsters were piped out of the gates by former pupil Harry Russell.

Joint heads Ruth Billingham and Heather White said they were very proud of the P7s and the way they had conducted themselves in the face of a very different end to their primary education.

Mrs Billingham told the Herald: “It’s been very different with the

virtual learning, but we have tried to keep everything as similar as it normally would be.

“We are delighted and proud of the efforts that the children have put in and they have been a credit to everybody.”

Mrs White added: “We were delighted with the send-off we were able to give our children. It still had the highly emotional quality.

“We managed to do a virtual awards ceremony for them as well and piece it all together with a ‘jump into the future’ video that they always do with their memories of school.

“Using technology, the children were able to create their own videos at home – one of our parents was able to help us pull that together – and using Microsoft Teams’ polls the kids were able to vote for the music and make contributions.

“So I would say that everything we normally would have delivered, we did – and with bells on!”
