Coach is new recruit

Vale delight as Callum is finally on the team

- SPORTS REPORTER

Vale of Earn have bolstered their team behind the scenes.

The Division One side recently announced Callum Ross has joined the Crieff club’s coaching team.

The new recruit is well-known in local amateur football circles, having previously coached Division Two side Strathearn Grove as well as helping to nurture the next generation of talent with Crieff Juniors FC.

The news comes shortly after Vale manager Garry Brock (right) revealed he plans to continue to lead the club into the new season as former assistant Danny Hendry steps away from his role following several years’ sterling service with the Market Park side.

Brock said: “Although we have been stuck in lockdown, we have been busy behind the scenes ensuring that the club will be ready if and when the new season resumes.

“Although Danny and myself had indicated early on in the year that we were taking a break from the running of the team, I have decided to reverse that decision to ensure the club remains in a strong position during this unprecedented time.

“However we will be losing Danny, who will now go on to enjoy a much- deserved retirement from the game. This will be a huge loss to the club but we can’t thank him enough for his work during his time with the Vale.

“That allows us to unveil a new member of our management team and we are pleased to announce that Callum Ross will be joining the club. “Cal is very well- known in the local game and brings with him an excellent coaching pedigree and he will be a massive asset to the club.

“We have tried to bring him in on a few occasions and are delighted to finally bring him here.

“He was most recently with Strathearn Grove and continues his coaching work with Crieff Juniors.”

Looking ahead, Brock continued: “We are trying very hard to retain the existing squad and have already signed-up the majority of the boys from last season.

“As always, we will be looking to bolster our ranks and are on the lookout for new players in all positions.

“With a new look set- up in place the club is hopefully heading for another strong, competitive season.”

A formal date for training to resume has yet to be announced but the club has said anyone is welcome to head along once it does kick-off again.
