Advice over council tax bills

-

Perth and Kinross Council is set to send out letters to everyone who has not paid their council tax, and is offering alternative arrangements to help people settle their bill.

The council says it “appreciates this is a difficult time,” with the global coronavirus pandemic having a significant impact on the economy and people’s financial circumstances.

Residents whose financial circumstances have changed since they received their council tax bill, and are now having trouble paying their instalments, should contact the council’s local taxes department on 01738 477430 – selecting option three – or email localtaxes@pkc.gov.uk as soon as possible to discuss setting up a payment plan.

The local authority can agree alternative arrangements which it says will take account of personal circumstances.

Karen Reid is the chief executive of Perth and Kinross Council.

In a statement, Ms Reid commented:

“We know this is a difficult time for many people in Perth and Kinross.

“Most people are continuing to pay their council tax, helping us to deliver essential services.

“But, if you are having difficulty, we’re here to help – please get in touch.”

The council’s welfare rights team may also be able to help people who are having difficulty paying other bills, or those who are worried about their finances due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Further information is available on the council’s website, which can be accessed by searching for www.pkc. gov.uk/welfarerights.

Alternatively, send an email to welfarerights@pkc.gov.uk
