an animal safari hunt along the Millennium Path.

And the Comrie Fortnight Disney Trail is up and running, with pictures of 25 characters to be found hidden around the village.

The two-week carnival, which usually attracts hundreds of visitors to the area is a quieter, villagefocused, affair this year, with most of the activities to be found in a bumper booklet that has been delivered free to every household.

On the front cover a padlock instead of the last zero of 2020 denotes the very different lockdown Comrie Fortnight.

However, those living outwith the village can still take part in some events via the virtual world.

A successful Comrie Fortnight

Facebook Live quiz took place on Sunday and another is scheduled for 7.30pm on Sunday this week.

Animal lovers are invited to take part in the pet show by submitting their photos in the categories of ‘most unusual pet’, ‘pet that looks most like their owner’, ‘cutest pet’ and ‘owner and pet in fancy dress’.

And those with a flair for making quirky videos can take part in the TikTok challenge.

Details are available on the Comrie Fortnight Facebook page or you can email entries to comriefortnight@btinternet.com.

Chairman James Stewart told the Herald: “Hazel did very well for the opening ceremony speech and it was great to see Myra and some of her family join us for the flag-raising ceremony.

“It’s been great to see the good positive feedback that we’ve had on the Comrie Fortnight Facebook page.

“We probably had the same amount of attendees for the quiz as we would usually have in the White Church, and Stewart Mackintosh did a great job as quizmaster so we are looking forward to next Sunday’s one now. People can check in to our page for details of how to get involved.

“It is a very different Comrie Fortnight for everyone this year but I am glad we have been able to provide some activities for people to enjoy.”
